After its media outbreak, the app suffered functionality problems due to the large number of downloads they received. Unable to solve the technical problem plus the rejection it had caused, the developer decided to cancel DeepNude permanently.
Through a letter published on Twitter, the programmer, who says his name is "Alberto" and comes from Estonia, announced the final closure and explained the reasons that led him to dismiss this controversial project.
The explanations, one by one
"Honestly, the app was not so good, it only worked with some photos in particular."
"We never thought it could go viral and we would not be able to control the traffic. We have underestimated the request of so many users"
"Despite the security measures taken (watermarks) if 500,000 people use it, the misuse of people is too high. We don't want to make money this way."
"Surely some copies of DeepNuede will be shared on the web, but we don't want to be the ones who sell. Downloading the software from other sources or sharing it by any other means would be contrary to the terms of our website."
"From now on, DeepNude will not release other versions and will not grant anyone their use. Not even the licenses to activate the premium version."
"People who have not yet updated will receive a refund.
"The world is not ready for DeepNude."
The closure of DeepNude does not mean that the controversy is over, since, as announced by the creators of the web, their program was distributed on the Internet and in many cases pirated.
